More information is emerging about Apple’s foldable hybrid device

A new report from renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reveals a bit more about Apple’s future hybrid foldable device. He believes that the company will manage to release not one, but possibly two foldable devices in the first half of 2026.

This is largely in line with a recent rumor that the foldable tablet-like device will debut in late 2025 or early 2026. Currently, work is underway on two formats – 20.25″ and 18.8″, and when folded they reduce to 14″. 15″ and 13-14″ respectively.

Supply chain arrangements suggest LG will be the sole supplier of these foldable panels and they are likely to be crease-free, driving up costs. The panel will also be connected to an expensive hinge, with initial estimates pointing to $600-$650 for the panel alone and $200-$250 for the hinge. Amphenol will be the supplier of Apple hinges.

Both foldable devices will be powered by the proprietary M5 series system.

Ming-Chi Kuo also gives vague estimates of the total cost. If initial estimates prove accurate, the company’s first foldable model will hit the market at a price similar to the current Vision Pro, which currently starts at $3,499. Still, shipments are likely to be higher than Vision Pro, at around 1 million units.
