Minnesota Governor Approves Renewable Energy Permitting Reform

Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz (D) on Friday signed a renewable energy regulatory package authorizing regulatory reforms aimed at speeding construction of transmission lines and cutting red tape in solar and wind development.

The Minnesota Energy Infrastructure Permitting Act, part of a broader omnibus farm and energy bill, builds on the sweeping climate package Walz signed last session. This year’s solution was proposed to reduce redundancies in the siting process and speed up timelines, the American Clean Power Association, an industry organization representing more than 800 clean energy companies, said in a press release.
