GREENSBORO, Ala. – Greensboro police have released body camera and dashcam video from a fatal officer-involved shooting on Randleman Road in June 2023, during which police found a man wielding a machete in the area.

The district attorney cleared the officers of any wrongdoing in the shooting.

GPD said it released the video to explain what happened. All videos related to the incident can be found on the Greensboro Police Department’s YouTube page.

The shooting took place on June 30. Police said they received a report of a firearm at Creek Ridge Road and Randleman Road. When officers arrived, they found a person with a large knife and a machete.

Officers said they tried to approach the man, who then started running and refused commands to stop. Police said they also tried using pepper spray and a Taser, but the suspect still did not stop.

The chase ended in the BP parking lot. GPD says the man charged at officers with knives and three officers fired their weapons, hitting him.
