Minister Henry reaffirms the Government of Saint Lucia’s commitment to equality, justice and inclusion

Saint Lucy – In his April 2024-2025 budget presentation, Hon. Joachim Henry, Minister of Equality, Social Justice and Empowerment, reaffirmed the Government of Saint Lucia’s unwavering commitment to meeting the needs of its citizens, driving economic growth and promoting the equitable allocation of resources.

As part of his presentation, Minister Henryk emphasized the great responsibility entrusted to the government to ensure the effective and fair use of the allocated funds. He stressed the key role of this responsibility in improving the well-being of all citizens, especially those from marginalized or disadvantaged backgrounds.

“I am reminded of the great responsibility we have as we begin this critical conversation to ensure that every dollar allocated is used effectively and equitably to improve the lives of all citizens, especially those who are marginalized or disadvantaged.”

The budget speech and subsequent debates are not just for the rich, but are of great importance to every member of society.

Minister Henry further emphasized that citizens must listen carefully and educate themselves about the direct impact of government policies and programs on their lives. He emphasized that with this knowledge, individuals can gain access to the numerous services, benefits and opportunities offered by the government.

“We need to listen carefully and learn how these policies and programs will directly impact our lives. With this knowledge, we can access the numerous benefits and opportunities offered by the government. They include, among others: new social intervention assistance programs at the Ministry of Justice, education scholarships and support programs in health care and housing.
