Memphis is on the wrong side of the Power 5 antitrust settlement

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The gap between the haves and have-nots is growing wider by the day, and the Memphis Tigers once again appear to be on the wrong side of things.

The latest failure is the NCAA’s monumental decision to settle three antitrust cases and problems with the Power 5 and to create a new structure in which schools will be able to pay players up to $20 million a year next year.

Currently, the Tigers are not in the Power 5 conference and there is no word on if or when they will appear, which begs the question.

The university is currently celebrating a massive $25 million NIL deal from FedEx over the next five years.

The NCAA will also refund $2.7 billion to former Division 1 players, but the gap between the Power 5 and the rest of the team continues to widen.
