Itochu signs PPA with Google to support renewable energy goals

Itochu has signed an energy supply agreement with Google to support the tech giant’s renewable energy goals in Japan.

Under the agreement, Itochu’s portfolio company, Clean Energy Connect (CEC), will begin providing services to Google in 2024, providing up to 72 megawatts of solar power by 2026.

Itochu invested in CEC in November 2021 in response to growing demand for renewable energy to support generative artificial intelligence and data center operations.
