The government has called for emergency measures to address the housing crisis

The government has been urged to take emergency measures to deal with the housing crisis.

On Saturday, protesters showed up at the Housing Fight Back rally in Dublin outside the Department of Housing at Custom House.

The ruling came after a report published last week was highly critical of the government’s housing policy.

The Housing Commission’s report made 83 recommendations and highlighted “serious concerns” about Ireland’s housing shortage and called for emergency action amid a “step change” in supply growth.

People Before Profit TD Richard Boyd Barrett has blasted the Government’s housing policy as a “disaster”.

He said the Housing Commission’s report “confirmed what everyone already knows,” adding that the government “has created a complete housing mess in this country, which has caused misery for hundreds of thousands of adults, families and children.”

He urged the government to take emergency measures to address the housing crisis.
