The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has just released its latest updated ALMM list, adding seven new participants. With the addition of new domestic solar module capacity, India’s total installed capacity under ALMM has now reached 48 GW.

This was an addition of approximately 5.4 GW of new capacity from the last published list published on April 29, 2024. The updated list showed the presence of four new solar module companies. It also saw the addition of new production lines to three existing companies gaining new production capacity.

Companies making the ALMM list for the first time include Oswal Structures, Luminous Power, HQ Lamps and ADM Solar. Three of the four new companies are based in Haryana, while Luminous has its module manufacturing plant in Uttarakhand.

In turn, Surat-based Cosmic PV Power has registered a new production line with a capacity of 185 MW. Similarly, RenewSys has commissioned a new 576 MW production line in Hyderabad. Tata Power also announced the addition of 94 MW of new capacity from a new production line in Bengaluru.

New entries

Oswal Solar Structures, a subsidiary of the Oswal Group, was engaged in the core business of photovoltaic pumps. It recently commissioned a solar module plant in Karnal and included a capacity of 170 MW in the latest ALMM list, but the company said it has further plans to increase its solar module production capacity in the DCR mono-PERC category.

In its recent interviews with Saur Energy, Surat-based Cosmic PV Power also talked about setting up a new production line. Cosmic already had a production capacity of 70 MW on the existing list. There is a new proposal to acquire 185 MW of new generating capacity for mono-PERC. Luminous also recently launched its new solar module manufacturing facility, where it was inaugurated by cricket luminary Sachin Tendulkar.

Nevertheless, the addition of new capacity has led to an increase in the total solar module capacity in India to 48 GW. Saur Energy’s analysis of the ALMM list showed that Waaree continues to top the list with its total registered capacity of 10,775 MW. Second in line is Mundra Solar, a company owned by Adani Group, with a capacity of 4,100 MW. Others include ReNew (3,698 MW), First Solar (3,212 MW) and Tata Power (3,196 MW).
