The impact of the dollar crisis and banking sector problems

Most economic indicators – inflation, the dollar crisis, foreign exchange reserves – have deteriorated, putting increasing pressure on the overall economy.

The cost of doing business has increased because Bangladesh Bank has increased the interest rate.

The banking sector has become unstable as registered, real and fake money is taken from banks.

Panic spread due to the initiative of decisive bank mergers. According to the central bank and officials from relevant sectors, at least three banks are struggling to return depositors’ money.

Even though the Covid pandemic hit the economy, the economic indicators were better then.

Economic indicators began to deteriorate in mid-2022.

Bangladesh Bank then claimed that the crisis would end by December. Later the crisis intensified. Now the central bank assures entrepreneurs that the crisis will end by December this year.
