VETECO will leverage business opportunities in a key sector to promote energy efficiency

This is an essential requirement that has recently become loud again with the publication of a European directive on this matter. The fair will be configured as an outstanding commercial tool, whose main characters will be windows, facades and sun protection. It will also be used to demonstrate the importance of these elements in achieving the zero-emission building goals planned for 2030 and 2050.

VETECO, which will take place as part of the International Construction Week from November 5 to 8 at IFEMA MADRID, will demonstrate that windows, facades, solar protection and building envelopes constitute a strategic sector that combines important synergies and added value for the entire construction sector. In this context, the Fair will become an indispensable commercial and business tool increasing the visibility of products and services, as well as strengthening marketing and the national and international distribution of the sector.

VETECO provides suppliers and customers with a direct and personal channel for cooperation on new projects. In addition, the fair will offer insights, innovations and solutions for professionals working in the window, facade and sun protection industry, as well as for the wider construction industry, which will be represented by CONSTRUTEC, PISCIMAD and SMART DOORS.

VETECO will consist of two sectors. VETECO GLASS will be an exhibition space for the entire glass industry and value chain. VETECO SOLAR will be a specific space for the solar protection and control sector. Moreover, the platform will provide growth-oriented content that promotes digitalization, innovation, sustainability, knowledge and advanced solutions throughout the construction cycle.

Energy efficiency

At VETECO, we are committed to exploring the connections between sustainable development and energy efficiency. We believe these concepts will play a key role in shaping the future of our industry in the years to come. On May 8, Directive (EU) 2024/1275 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union. This will be determined by national renovation plans and a new energy certification system for buildings. The new directive, which will be implemented gradually from 2026, was positively assessed by ASEFAVE, the Spanish Association of Lightweight Facade and Windows Manufacturers.

The key concept is a zero-emission building, defined as a facility with very low energy demand, zero carbon dioxide emissions from local fossil fuels and zero or very low operational greenhouse gas emissions. By 2030, all new buildings must be zero-emission buildings and existing buildings must be converted to zero-emission buildings by 2050 at the latest.
