Waaree Energies lights up Rajasthan with 445 MW solar project

Waaree Energies Limited, an Indian solar module manufacturer, has announced the supply of 445 MW 540/545 Wp bifacial modules for solar projects in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The contract, which is scheduled to run from May to August 2024, marks a milestone in Waaree Energies’ contribution to India’s energy transition, meeting growing electricity demand and supporting the country’s carbon neutrality goals. The project, implemented in cooperation with Statkraft India, aims to increase the renewable energy production capacity in the region and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Hitesh Doshi, President and CEO, Waaree Energies, said: “The partnership with Statkraft India is a key step in our shared mission to contribute to India’s energy transformation. By using solar energy and our technology, we not only illuminate homes, but also contribute to economic growth and job creation in the region.”

Building energy potential and sustainable development

Waaree bifacial solar modules are designed to maximize energy efficiency by capturing sunlight on both sides of the panels, thereby increasing energy production. The impact of this project goes beyond energy production. This is part of a broader approach to promoting environmental sustainability and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Economic and social impact

The Bikaner project is not only a technological feat, but also an initiative with a strong economic and social impact. By stimulating local production and creating jobs, this project strengthens the regional economy. Moreover, by improving access to clean, affordable energy, it helps improve the quality of life of local communities. Waaree Energies, founded in 1990, has established itself in the Indian solar module market. With an installed capacity of 12 GW till June 30, 2023, the company continues to expand its footprint in India and internationally. Four manufacturing plants in India confirm the company’s commitment to providing sustainable and cost-effective energy solutions.

Future perspectives

By increasing renewable energy production capacity and promoting sustainable practices, these initiatives are helping India reduce its dependence on fossil fuels and move towards a cleaner energy future. The partnerships between Waaree Energies and Statkraft India demonstrate how collaboration can accelerate progress in the renewable energy sector. These projects are essential to achieving carbon neutrality and promoting sustainable economic growth. The 445 MW solar project in Bikaner by Waaree Energies and Statkraft India is a breakthrough in the promotion of renewable energy in India. By combining technological innovation with a commitment to sustainability, this project contributes not only to India’s energy transformation, but also to its economic and social development.
