Sidec Awards for Top 10 E-Commerce Sellers in 2024

For the ninth time, Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) hosted the Top E-Commerce Merchant in Malaysia (Top ECM) Awards to recognize top players in the local e-commerce space.

A total of 516 sellers were shortlisted this year, a significant increase of 43.3% compared to 360 participants in 2023.

These sellers were rigorously evaluated based on sales performance, business potential and marketing innovation by a panel of respected e-commerce industry judges.

According to a press release, Top ECM recorded exceptional growth in total sales this year, achieving an impressive gross sales volume (GMV) of RM109,569,850 with a total of 2,388,764 orders.

The top ten e-commerce sellers selected by Sidec brought home prizes from a prize pool of RM37,000.

1. Zucca Commerce Sdn Bhd

A modest fashion brand, you’ve probably seen Zucca Commerce on Shopee, Lazada, or TikTok Shop. Her clothes are designed to be stylish, practical and comfortable.

With affordable prices, the three-year-old company’s mission is to meet the needs of the majority of Malaysia’s population by ensuring the availability of its products.

But what helped the company grow was its use of social trading algorithms, SEO keywords, and live customer feedback. This, in turn, allows Zucca Commerce to select clothes based on current trends or purchasing patterns.

In an interview with the New Strait Times, Zucca Commerce co-founder Erica Yap explained that it helps compare sales and reviews of different products. From there, they can understand customer preferences and determine what to produce.

In addition to the title, trophy and certificate, Zucca Commerce also received RM10,000 in cash.

2. SLL Machinery Hardware Sdn Bhd

Claiming to be a hardware paradise, SLL Machinery Hardware is an Ipoh-based company offering both commercial and industrial supplies.

The company was founded in 1983 and has a mission to be a one-stop shop for all things related to computer hardware and furniture.

According to the website, the catalog has more than 35,000 items available for retail sale. This includes products as small as door handles and wall drills, to larger ones such as saunas and swimming pools.

Like Zucca Commerce, SLL Machinery Hardware received RM8,000 on top of the second winner’s spoils.

3. DESINCE Sd. bhd

Founded in 2016, DESINCE is a wholesaler offering fashion-related products for both men and women. It was around this time that online shopping in Malaysia really took off with the emergence of now popular platforms such as Zalora and Shopee.

The company offers fashion items ranging from formal wear to casual wear, as well as accessories such as socks and shoes. Shopee’s website shows that DESINCE has sold over 98,000 men’s formal shirts.

To provide a better experience for shoppers, the brand has also expanded beyond e-commerce. She currently has a walk-in boutique in Sungai Kapar Indah, Klang.

The wholesaler also received a prize of RM5,000 cash along with a title, trophy and certificate from Sidec.

4. Color Blast Sdn Bhd

Based on its website, Color Blast claims to be a pioneering brand “baju kebarung” in Malaysia. It is a mixture of traditional baju kurung and baju kebaya.

Therefore, you can find a lot baju kebarung designs for sizes XS to 3XL. Their prices are also affordable for traditional clothing, starting from RM89 per set. In addition, the store sells other items related to Muslim fashion, such as hijab.

Customers can purchase the designs online through Shopee, the TikTok store and its website. Color Blast also has a physical store in Shah Alam for those who prefer to try them on first.

In its earlier years, the brand operated on a dropshipping basis before becoming one of the leading local producers of Muslim clothing.

5. JC Print & Office Sdn Bhd

Founded in 2019, JC Print & Office specializes in printing and design for corporate and commercial clients.

This includes printing a range of office and lifestyle products including but not limited to:

  • Business cards
  • Banners, buntings and backgrounds
  • T-shirts and uniforms
  • Stickers and stamps

It started as a one-person program that turned into a thriving business with a group of over 30 talented people. According to the website, the company has gained a good reputation on e-commerce platforms such as Shopee and Lazada for its services.

6. CARE eStore Sdn Bhd

CARiNG Pharmacy’s e-commerce brand, CARiNG eStore, provides customers with high-quality pharmaceutical products.

The well-known brand was founded in 1994 by five pharmacists, all of whom were students of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). Its first outlet was located in Taman Muda, Cheras.

Since then, it has grown to over 200 branches throughout the country. Like stationary stores, CARiNG eStore offers customers a wide range of healthcare products.

Home deliveries to West Malaysia are free for minimum orders of RM150.

7. Ashvertising Marketing Sdn Bhd

“We are dreamers, creators and strategists,” Ashvertising Marketing states on its website. Founded in 2016, the advertising company has a mission to bring its clients’ stories to life through engaging campaigns.

Unfortunately, we were unable to find anything else about this company on the Internet.

8. JS Home Living Sdn Bhd

JS Home Living (short for Jing Soon), based in Pekan Nenas, is a manufacturer that also sells household appliances retail. The catalog includes products such as plastic food containers, plastic chairs, plastic drawers and multi-compartment drawers.

Apart from the retail store, customers can find their products on Shopee under another name called PLASTICMASTER.

The company was founded in 2017 by two college friends when they realized how big the e-commerce market was in China and wanted to follow the trend.

9. We have the concept of Sdn Bhd

We Concept is another home furnishings-focused brand located in Batu Pahat, Johor. In his store you will find items such as sofas, cabinets, beds and dining tables.

With prices starting from RM30, the company offers free installation in areas within the Johor Bahru area. People who shop on websites like Shopee will be able to save more.

10. PCIAB Global Sdn Bhd

PCIAB Global, the only pet company on the list, strives to lead the industry in the highest quality pet products.

According to its profile on MauKerja, the brand is driven by “continuous innovation and the introduction of new additional products” to meet the changing needs of pet owners.

One of its brands is Nanovet, which offers pet products such as food and supplements, care kits, smart feeders and toys. Prices are also in the typical affordable range, starting from RM17.

The starting point for future e-commerce leaders

Apart from the top three winners, the seven remaining finalists received RM2,000 each.

At the awards ceremony, Sidec CEO Yong Kai Ping said: “The ECM Best Awards are not just a recognition of today’s successes; are the starting point for future e-commerce leaders. Through this platform, we aim to inspire, educate and raise the standards of e-commerce practices across Malaysia.

According to The Sun, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) reported that the total revenue of the e-commerce sector shows an increase of RM1,099.7 billion in 2022. This is a 6% year-on-year increase from RM1,037.2 billion in 2022 .2021.

In this note, he stated that existing policies and new regulatory frameworks need to be reassessed to ensure that consumer protection and fair competition continue to be developed.

To overcome these challenges, he mentioned that all industry stakeholders need to collaborate, adapt and innovate to unleash the full potential of local e-commerce.
