US Cellular announces new Simple Connect no-contract plans and retail installment option for new device purchases

CHICAGO, Ill–(Marketwired – April 7, 2014) – American mobile network (USM) has introduced new no-contract plans for customers with unlimited data, voice and messaging on its latest phones starting at $40 per month. These new offers, called Simple Connect plans, are perfect for customers who want unlimited use of the latest devices and the freedom and simplicity of a no-contract plan. Many 4G LTE and 3G Android and Apple devices are available with these plans, and nearly 90 percent of U.S. mobile customers are currently covered by a 4G LTE network.

Additionally, US Cellular allows customers to purchase a new device for $0 off through its Simple Connect plans and the company’s Shared Data plans, now called Shared Connect plans. Customers then make monthly payments towards the cost of the device as part of their wireless bill.

For $50 a month on the Simple Connect plan, smartphone customers get unlimited voice, messaging and data, with 500MB of high-speed data. Data is slower after 500MB, but remains unlimited. For $60 per month, customers get unlimited voice, messaging and data, with 2GB of high-speed data. Customers looking for a basic phone can pay $40 per month for unlimited voice, messaging and data. Customers on the Simple Connect plan can choose to pay upfront for their device and monthly services, or finance their device and receive a bill for financing and service.

With the new retail installment option, U.S. mobile customers on Shared Connect or Simple Connect plans can now pay device tax at the point of sale ($0 down payment) and then make 24 monthly device payments that are conveniently added to their wireless bill. Customers can also pay off the entire balance on their new device at any time.

To help launch the new offerings, for a limited time, US Cellular will pay off customers’ old contracts up to $350 per line when they upgrade to a Shared Connect plan and select a retail installment plan. Anyone who ports a number from another carrier and sends a final bill with an early termination fee will receive a prepaid debit card for that amount.

US Cellular, in partnership with King Street Wireless, offers 4G LTE service to nearly 90 percent of its customers. Customers who choose US Cellular’s Shared Connect plan will receive a valuable rewards program that recognizes customer loyalty and a network that covers them wherever they want to go.
