Google says it is considering appealing the EU antitrust fine

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – Alphabet’s Google said on Tuesday it disagreed with EU competition regulators’ findings that it abused its dominant position and was considering an appeal.

The Commission imposed a fine of 2.42 billion euros ($2.72 billion) on Google after finding that Google systematically gave prominence to its own price comparison website and degraded the rankings of competitors in search results.

“We respectfully disagree with the conclusions announced today. We will review the Commission’s decision carefully as we review the appeal and look forward to continuing to present our case,” Google’s general counsel, Kent Walker, said in a statement.
