Apple presents new iPhone devices

Apple unveiled three new iPhone devices with redesigned camera systems as the tech company shifts its focus to smartphone photography.

The new iPhone 11, which will start at £729, has a new dual camera system consisting of wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle lenses.

It is joined by the 5.8-inch iPhone 11 Pro and 6.5-inch 11 Pro Max, both of which feature a triple camera on an iPhone for the first time.

Apple CEO Tim Cook called the new Pro devices “the most advanced and powerful” the company has ever produced.

All three phones will be powered by Apple’s new A13 Bionic processors, which support machine learning to make the phones run faster and better optimize battery life.

The tech company says iPhone 11 Pro users can enjoy up to five hours more battery life thanks to internal improvements.

The devices also introduced a new night mode for photos – also powered by the A13 chip – while Pro devices received higher quality screens, which Apple calls Super Retina XDR.

Apple has confirmed that prices for the iPhone 11 Pro will start from £1,049 and the 11 Pro Max will start from £1,149.

The new phones were unveiled during a live event at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, and were joined by a new version of the Apple Watch.

Apple Watch Series 5 will feature an “always-on” display for the first time, which will allow users to check notifications and other information on the smartwatch’s display without having to lift their wrist to wake the screen.

The release dates and prices of the tech giant’s two new subscription services have also been confirmed.

Netflix’s Challenger Apple TV+ streaming service will launch on November 1 in the UK and will cost £4.99 per month, while the new Apple Arcade gaming subscription platform will launch on September 19 at the same price.

The company also announced a new version of its basic iPad, which received a larger 10.2-inch screen.

Apple’s announcements come during a busy time in the smartphone market and amid declining sales of the company’s phones.

Rival Samsung recently launched its latest smartphone, the Galaxy Note 10, and confirmed that the foldable smartphone will go on sale later this month.

Chinese company Huawei, which overtook Apple last year to become the world’s second-largest manufacturer, is also expected to announce its new flagship phone next week.
