Sheikh Khalifa emphasizes the importance of facilitating procedures for the exchange of goods between Islamic countries

The Qatar Chamber recently participated in the 36th Board Meeting of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD) as well as the “Investing in the Digital Economy” forum held in Amman, Jordan. Led by the Chairman of the Qatar Chamber, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani, the chamber’s delegation included board members Abdulrahman bin Abduljaleel al-Abdulghani, Dr. Mohamed bin Jawhar al-Mohamed and Abdulla bin Mohamed al-Emadi. The agenda of the ICCD meeting discussed a number of topics, including the progress of the ICCD accreditation of the financial program, the approval of the 68th report of the Finance Commission, the “Manafea” initiative, the completion of the first phase of the Gaza Reconstruction Initiative and other relevant topics. Sheikh Khalifa, who is also the first vice-chairman of the ICCD, praised its efforts and key role in supporting economic and trade development among Islamic countries. He stressed that ICCD activities and events play a vital role in promoting cooperation between chambers of commerce, which ultimately benefits the economies of member states. Sheikh Khalifa emphasized the chamber’s strong support for cooperation – coordination and cooperation between member chambers in order to improve procedures for the exchange of goods and services and stimulate internal trade between Islamic countries. He further stressed the importance of supporting cooperation between the private sector of Islamic countries by organizing conferences and exhibitions presenting investment opportunities and incentives, thereby promoting mutual investments and joint ventures. Sheikh Khalifa also emphasized the importance of the “Invest in the Digital Economy” forum, organized under the patronage of King Abdullah II bin al-Hussein of Jordan. The forum was organized by the Jordan Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development. Sheikh Khalifa highlighted the growing global interest in the digital economy, accompanied by digital transformation in many countries of the world and the development of technology and e-commerce in various sectors. He said the forum provided a valuable opportunity for participating countries to explore cooperation in these key sectors, noting that discussions focused on investment opportunities in the digital economy, as well as challenges hindering its development and potential solutions. Sheikh Khalifa emphasized that the Qatar Chamber was eager to participate in the forum, noting that it is part of Qatar’s significant progress in the digital economy and commercial trade. “Qatar’s success in creating state-of-the-art digital infrastructure reflects its belief in the digital economy’s role in supporting economic growth, achieving sustainable development and diversifying the economy, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030,” he said. Sheikh Khalifa added that Qatari business owners are interested in investing in digital economy and e-commerce projects, confirming that e-commerce has achieved significant growth in Qatar.
