City Commission to Consider Municipal Code Amendments to Parking Regulations – Pasadena Now

City Council’s municipal services are expected to consider changes to the city code to update parking regulations and permitting processes, according to a Department of Transportation memorandum.

Proposed changes to Title 10 of the Pasadena Municipal Code (PMC) would address the current practice of issuing virtual parking permits using vehicle license plates instead of physical permits.

PMC updates will address the application, cancellation, transfer and enforcement of these virtual permits.

The amendments would also clarify that City property enforcement may occur at facilities identified in Section 10.08.025 and would replace the term “disabled” with “disabled” to conform to federal and state regulations.

Additionally, the changes will set limits on the size of vehicles eligible for virtual parking permits and allow lots with accessory dwelling units to apply for virtual overnight permits.

Outdated rules on physical permits would be removed as they no longer apply due to the shift to virtual permits.

If the project is approved in its current form, the application will be sent to the City Council for consideration.

If council approves, the city attorney will have 60 days to draft an ordinance containing the recommended changes.

According to the Department for Transport, the proposed changes are consistent with the City Council’s core value of accountability and are not expected to have any impact on the budget or indirect costs.
