Lenovo Prepares ‘Lite’ Version of Lenovo Legion Go Portable Gaming Device: Report

Lenovo Legion Go launched last September, powered by AMD Ryzen Z1 series processors and Windows 11. The portable gaming PC, equipped with detachable controllers like the Nintendo Switch, comes after a wave of portable gaming devices like Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally. Currently, Lenovo is preparing to release a “Lite” version of the Legion Go. This development comes after Asus announced earlier this month that it would soon launch the updated ROG Ally handheld.

A report by Windows Central, citing sources familiar with Lenovo’s plans, shows that the company is preparing Lenovo Legion Go “Lite”. The “Lite” version of the handheld will reportedly run on the same AMD Ryzen Z1 series of processors, but will likely feature some “improvements” over its predecessor.

Details about the changes and updates to the Lenovo Legion Go Lite are not yet available, but the “Lite” moniker suggests some hardware compromises that will keep the price of the portable gaming device down. A report by Windows Central speculated that the Lenovo Legion Go Lite could have a smaller screen and ditch the detachable controllers, similar to the Nintendo Switch Lite. Therefore, the Lenovo Legion Go Lite may also be available at a lower price.

There are no official details about the “Lite” version of the Lenovo Legion Go, and the company is yet to reveal a launch schedule for the device.

Lenovo is not the only manufacturer preparing an updated version of its portable gaming PC. Asus has announced that it will launch the Asus ROG Ally X, a refreshed version of its mobile device, on June 2. The upcoming ROG Ally X is said to receive a much larger battery, more RAM and a new black color scheme.

A report last week claimed that the Asus ROG Ally X will feature a larger 80Wh battery and come with 24GB of LPDDR5 memory compared to 16GB of RAM in its predecessor.

The Lenovo Legion Go was launched at IFA in Berlin last September at a price of 799 euros (approximately Rs. 70,000). It has an 8.8-inch QHD+ display with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. The mobile device is powered by AMD Ryzen Z1 SoCs paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD.
