Stephen King’s new warning about Donald Trump takes flight online

Best-selling author Stephen King has issued a new warning about former President Donald Trump, following a campaign speech in Michigan that raised eyebrows on social media platforms.

King’s message, posted to X, formerly Twitter, on October 10, followed excerpts from Trump’s recent speech at the Detroit Economics Club.

“This man has completely lost the plot. DON’T VOTE FOR TRUMP,” King wrote in his post, which has garnered more than 230,000 views.

Trump’s nearly two-hour speech, seemingly focused on economic policy, quickly devolved into a series of tangential anecdotes and nonsense.

In one particularly notable segment, Trump attempted to draw parallels between SpaceX rocket landings and President Joe Biden’s campaign events during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“And it’s so simple, I mean, you know. It’s not like Elon with his rockets landing within 12 inches of the moon where they wanted to land,” Trump said, before launching into in a description of SpaceX’s rocket boosters. return to Earth.

He then abruptly began criticizing President Biden’s socially distanced campaign rallies, calling them “Biden circles.”

The former president’s disjointed narrative continued as he conflated these unrelated topics, saying, “He would have eight circles, and he couldn’t fill them.” But then I heard he beat us with the popular vote. He couldn’t fill them. the eight circles, I always loved these circles, they were so beautiful, so beautiful to look at.”

News week contacted the Trump campaign and a press contact for King by email Saturday for comment.

This latest scathing criticism of the author, who joined the Democratic Party in 1970, follows a pattern of the author expressing concerns about Trump.

On October 5, King posted on X: “Trump is past his expiration date. Don’t vote for an old man who won’t disclose his medical records. » This statement highlights ongoing discussions about Trump’s age and healthcare transparency.

At 78, Trump is now the oldest presidential candidate in U.S. history, after President Biden withdrew from the race on July 21 and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee. Despite being only three years younger than Biden, Trump is facing increased scrutiny over his age.

An Aug. 2 Economist/YouGov survey of 1,604 U.S. adults found that nearly a third of independent voters believe Trump’s age will “significantly limit” his ability to be president. Specifically, 32% of independent voters, who could prove crucial in key states, believe Trump’s health and age would affect his ability to fulfill his presidential duties if he enters the Oval Office.

This figure exceeds the number of independent voters who think Trump’s age will have “little effect” (29%) or no effect (24%) on his ability to be president. In contrast, only 7 percent of American adults think Harris’ age will affect her ability to become president, and 80 percent say it will have little or no effect.

Trump’s medical history has been the subject of controversy. In 2015, Dr. Harold Bornstein, Trump’s personal physician, wrote a letter claiming that Trump would be “the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.” Bornstein later claimed in 2018 that Trump had dictated the letter to him.

Most recently, in November 2023, Trump posted a doctor’s letter on his Truth Social platform, claiming that his physical and cognitive health was exceptional. However, the legitimacy of the letter has been questioned due to the lack of specific test results or key health parameters.
