E8 Angels Announces Call for Applications for Decarbon8-US 2024 Fund, Focused on Renewable Energy

SEATTLE, May 28, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — E8 Angels, the largest cleantech angel investing community in the U.S., has published its annual RFP for Decarbonization8-USA, philanthropic activities fund. This year, the focus is on supporting innovation in the field of renewable energy, motivated by the ambitious goals set at the conference COP28 Climate Summit on tripling global renewable energy capacity by 2030

The Decarbon8-US fund launched in 2020 has invested over $8.4 million through combined philanthropic and personal co-investments in 14 portfolio companies focused on decarbonizing sectors such as agriculture, the built environment and transportation. Decarbon8-US accepts donations and grants to facilitate equity and debt investments in early-stage companies whose technologies and business models accelerate the transition to environmentally sustainable solutions.

“We have seen tremendous progress among Decarbon8-US portfolio companies, including the exit of Earthly Labs, which was acquired by Chart Industries in 2022.” – he said Karina Kidder, executive director of E8. “To triple our renewable energy by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050, we need significant collaboration between the private, public and government sectors. We are excited to provide a unique way for everyone to get involved and make an impact.”

E8 is working with key partners to expand the impact and opportunities offered by the fund, including the Microsoft Climate Innovation Fund. “Microsoft’s work to advance sustainability markets underpins our partnership with the E8 Decarbon8-US Fund,” he said Brandon Middaugh, senior director of Microsoft’s Climate Innovation Fund. “Through the Decarbon8-US Fund, we are proud to support innovative startups that are accelerating the transition to a cleaner and more sustainable future.”
