Alliance University has launched pioneering undergraduate programs in Public Policy, Public Administration and Politics and Management

Alliance University is proud to have launched three innovative undergraduate programs in Public Policy, Public Administration and Politics and Management. Housed under the Center of Excellence in Public Policy, Sustainability and ESG Research, these programs are carefully designed to be in line with India’s vision to become a developed country by 2047 as enshrined in the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ initiative. . The launch was held on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Moot Court, Learning Centre, Alliance University with the theme ‘Forging the Way Ahead: Policy Making for Viksit Bharat 2047’.

The most important information in the program:

-Bachelor’s degree in public policy: Majors include economics, climate justice and sustainability, ESG and business sustainability, and social policymaking.

– Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration: Majors include business, management and society, international management, business administration and disaster management.

-Bachelor’s degree in politics and management: Majors include economics, comparative politics, psychology and elections, and politics and politics.

Each program emphasizes a multidimensional approach to solving public policy problems, integrating STEM and SHAPE (social sciences, humanities and arts for people and the economy) disciplines to enhance problem-solving skills. Key disciplines such as leadership, psychology, sociology and New Age courses are included to provide a comprehensive understanding of the social, political and cultural dimensions of policymaking.

The programs are designed to foster critical thinking and address global challenges through a curriculum that includes contemporary courses on artificial intelligence, blockchain, Bitcoin, human rights, global challenges, climate change, the 2030 Sustainable Development Goal, government policy, bureaucracy and more.

The inauguration ceremony was inaugurated by distinguished guests Dr. Navneet Sharma, Director General, CUTS Institute of Regulation and Competition; Dr. Ashwin Mahesh, Founder and CEO, LVBL Accelerator; and Dr. Sairam Bhat, Professor of Law, National Law School, University of India, Bengaluru. The occasion was also graced by dignitaries from Alliance University.

Dr. V Shyam Kishore, Interim Dean of Alliance School of Law, delivered the welcome address, hailing the inauguration as an important milestone for Alliance University and highlighting its commitment to address global challenges through education and policy.

In his inaugural address, Pro-Chancellor Abhay G. Chebbi highlighted India’s growth as a developed nation and the importance of globalization at minimal cost, the expanded scope of social and economic impact and the importance of ESG reporting in climate change research. He emphasized the university’s commitment to the community and campus through education and research focused on the Sustainable Development Goals.

Dr. Priestly Shan, Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Alliance University, discussed the university’s multidisciplinary approach, noting the publication of 382 major papers and the award of six international patents. He announced the launch of the WIPO Green Call on Sustainable Areas and highlighted collaboration efforts between scientists, think tanks and public policy leaders.

Dr. Mukul Saxena, professor and director of the Center for PG and Legal Studies and the Center of Excellence in Public Policy, Sustainable Development and ESG Research, presented the draft curriculum aimed at future leaders fighting climate change and promoting social development. He stressed the need for political and social reforms to prioritize education and sustainable development.

The event concluded with a panel discussion on key issues facing India’s development, including environmental sustainability, technological innovation and the digital divide. The panel included insights from Dr. Navneet Sharma on policy implementation; Dr. Ashwin Mahesh on the role of the state, market and society; and Dr. Sairam Bhat on India’s global contribution and quality of education. Dr. Mukul Saxena advocated for a scientific approach to policy implementation and the behavioral changes needed for policy acceptance.

Alliance University aims to host the grand opening of its Center of Excellence in Sustainability, Policy and ESG Research in September 2024, further strengthening its commitment to rigorous, evidence-based research in public policy, sustainability and ESG.
