Uber releases Sri Lanka Lost and Found Index 2024 | Daily Mirror – Latest news and headlines from Sri Lanka

  • Uber’s annual lost-and-found index provides insight into items riders forgot over the past year
  • Gymnastic weights, Jordan shoes, wedding rings: unique items left in Ubers

Uber, the country’s most popular ride-hailing app, yesterday released the 2024 edition of its highly anticipated lost and found index, shedding light on the most forgotten items in Ubers across the island.

From perfumes to sarongs, medicines, soap, baby shoes and Jordans, Sri Lankans have truly outdone themselves this year by leaving behind their personal belongings.

Uber’s Lost and Found Index, powered by data trends, aims to provide a fun yet informative way to inform riders about the app options available at the touch of a button in case they forget something in the back of their Uber.
Last year, wallets, mobile phones, backpacks, documents, keys, jewelry and electronic items topped the list of items most frequently left behind in Uber in Sri Lanka. Interestingly, there are more than three times as many iPhones left compared to Android phones.

Reflecting on the latest findings, Uber Mobility Country Manager for Sri Lanka, Kaushalya Gunaratne, said: “At Uber, we understand the anxiety that comes with realizing you have left something behind while riding with Uber. Thanks to us, passengers always have the opportunity to contact us and try to recover their belongings. The survey made passengers laugh as they saw credible and honest trends in leaving behind everything from backpacks to water bottles and umbrellas, and reminded them of the simple steps to take to request the recovery of a lost item. With a busy travel season ahead of us, we thought it would be a good time to quickly refresh our knowledge.”

In addition to the updated lost and found index, Uber continues to prioritize the safety and convenience of its passengers, offering services like Uber Connect for same-day item recovery.

With these insights, Uber continues to strive to improve the passenger experience and ensure a seamless travel experience for all users in Sri Lanka.
