Android’s new Find My Device feature could be getting two big updates – for all we know

It looks like Android and Google are adding new security features to Android phones, including the ability to unlock the updated Find My Device app using biometrics.

During Android Authority’s recent APK removal, an Assemble Debug contributor enabled two new features on his Android device. The first is the “Allow biometric login” option in the Find My Device web login menu on Android. Interesting because the current version requires a password every time the user accesses the app unless they select the “Don’t ask again” option.

Another unlocked Assemble Debug feature was the improved remote lock feature available in the latest Google Play Services. While Find My Device has allowed users to remotely lock their phones for years, this is the first time you can lock your device using just your phone number and a quick security check. Please note that this feature is not fully functional yet as it is scheduled for release later.

Google recently released an updated version of Find My Device with several new improvements that will help it compete with Apple’s Find My Device network. The new version allows users to find lost devices and even find disabled devices. This doesn’t just apply to phones and tablets – users can locate keys, wallets and other gadgets with compatible Bluetooth tags.
