Fix “No Active Device Used in Your Location”: 6 Best Ways

The functioning of different apps depends on your location settings – from everyday essentials like Maps and Weather to more critical tools like Find My and Emergency SOS. For this reason, I turn it on almost 24/7. Imagine my panic when my iPhone received the persistent “No active device in use in your location” error. Suddenly I lost access to many Apple services.

I have spent many hours searching the Apple community for answers. Although tedious, my efforts paid off. If you encounter the same error, here are some best practices to help you turn Location Services back on.

What to do if your iPhone says “No active device in use in your location”

1. Turn Find My off and on

Time needed: 5 minutes

Start by turning off Find My on your iPhone if you get the message “No active device in use in your location.” Follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Click your name at the top and open it.

    Click on the name

  3. Then open Find mine.

    Tap on Find My

  4. Here, tap Find my iPhone.

    Turn off Find My iPhone

  5. Turn off the button next to it Find my iPhone.
  6. Turn off too Find my network AND Send last location.

    Disable services

  7. get back to Settings and turn off Share my location also.

  8. Now turn off your iPhone and wait a few seconds before restarting it. Enable any features you disabled.

2. Sign out of your Apple ID, then sign in again

Another method you can try is to sign in and out of your Apple ID. This usually resolves account issues that may be interfering with Location Services.

  1. Open Settings app with Home screen.
  2. Then tap your name.Click on the name
  3. Here, scroll down and select Log out.Sign out of your Apple ID
  4. Enter yours Apple ID password confirm.Enter your Apple ID password
  5. You will now be signed out of your Apple ID.
  6. Then follow the same steps above and log in again.

3. Force restart your iPhone

A simple forced restart can resolve temporary bugs or errors in location services.

  1. Press and release quickly Turn up the volume button.
  2. Press and release quickly Turn down the volume button.
  3. Then press and hold Side button on your iPhone.Force restart your iPhone
  4. Release it when you see the Apple logo on the screen.
  5. Your device will now restart.

4. Accept the Regulations

To use location services like Find My, you must accept the settings app’s terms and conditions. Here’s how:

  1. Open Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on New iCloud Terms.New iCloud Terms
  3. To choose Statute on the screen.
  4. Select here Agree in the lower right corner of the screen.
  5. Then select Agree again to confirm.

Go to the Messages app and try sending your location again to see if it works.

5. Reset network settings

Reset network settings to factory settings. This is a quick but drastic way to fix any bugs or features affecting location services.

6. Update iOS

Try updating the software. If this is a known issue on your current version of iOS, downloading and installing the latest version may help.

  3. Wait while the system checks for updates.
  4. Go ahead and tap Download and install.
