This was heard at a meeting organized yesterday by the Thu Duc Municipal Party Committee to summarize 15 years of implementation of Directive 38 of the Party Central Committee Secretariat on the promotion of health insurance work in the new situation.

In implementing Directive 38, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee directed all party committees, authorities and political-social organizations to cooperate with the Social Insurance Agency of Thu Duc City to focus on disseminating information among agencies, units and schools about the position, role and importance of health insurance in social security system, perspectives and goals in implementing health insurance policies and regulations.

By the end of 2023, the number of people covered by health insurance in Thu Duc City had reached a coverage rate of 91.25% of the population, including 227,272 purchasers of household health insurance. The percentage of students covered by health insurance reached 98.76%. Of the 136 schools, 103 have 100 percent of students covered by health insurance.

Vice-chairman of the Thu Duc City People’s Committee, Nguyen Ky Phung, asked all party committees, authorities, departments, agencies, individuals, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and political and social organizations to continue to promote propaganda work and effectively implement the health insurance policy. They should strengthen the coordination of the Propaganda and Education Council with state management agencies in implementing the socio-economic development plan, solving emerging problems that concern the people.

Moreover, the meeting addressed the issue of improving the quality of research and treatment services in medical facilities in Thu Duc City in order to meet the needs of people covered by health insurance.

The meeting participants also drew attention to the goals and action plan for the implementation of universal health insurance in relation to 100%. households covered by health insurance in 2020-2025 and achieve the target by 2030. All party committees and district authorities must mobilize all sources to provide free health insurance cards and support to disadvantaged people, covered families, orphans, poor and difficult students and ethnic minorities.

Relevant agencies will increase supervision and control over the implementation of health insurance policies in order to quickly put the book to rest on employers who do not fulfill their obligations in paying employees’ social and health insurance contributions or who are extorting and profiting from health insurance funds.
