Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Review: This gadget will revolutionize mundane chores

I never really understood the robot vacuum craze, so I jumped at the opportunity to test out the S8 MaxV Ultra, an all-in-one home cleaning solution.

It has a number of revolutionary features, including a FlexiArm side brush for corner-to-edge cleaning and a VibraRise 3.0 mopping system that effectively removes dried stains.

It is one of the most intelligent vacuum cleaner robots available on the market, equipped with AI 2.0 reactive obstacle recognition and a built-in voice assistant. It is also completely self-contained.

How well do these features really work and will they revolutionize your mundane cleaning routine? We tried it and that’s what we think.

How to get it and how much will it cost?

The S8 MaxV Ultra launched on May 1 and costs $2,999. It can be purchased from the official Roborock store, as well as major retailers such as JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, Bing Lee, David Jones and Amazon.

Who is it good for and what is it for?

Roborock claims that its powerful new device has a suction power of 10,000 Pa, more than previous models, and a mop lift height of 20 mm, so carpets and rugs will not interfere with mopping.

The Roborock app on your phone means you can run the vacuum cleaner from anywhere or plan a cleaning schedule when you’re not at home.

You can also select a specific area to vacuum and let the vacuum do all the work, determining how well the environment needs cleaning using SmartPlan technology.

If your phone isn’t nearby, saying “Hello Rocky” will activate the device and you’ll be able to use voice commands to stop, start, or instruct it to clean a specific room. This is helpful in the case of accidental spills, which – let’s face it – do happen.

Thanks to its powerful suction power, the S8 MaxV Ultra can deep clean carpets and rugs.

The vacuum cleaner robot is also equipped with the VibraRise 3.0 mopping system, which is characterized by a vibration speed of 4,000 times per minute and a washing and drying temperature of 60°C.

For homes with pets, automatic pet recognition means the robot vacuum cleaner will stop and move aside so as not to spook your furry friends, while also increasing the vacuum’s power when cleaning the area where your pet mainly resides.

What does it look like and work?

Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra is available in black and white with a docking station measuring 419 x 409 x 470 mm.

The docking station and robot vacuum cleaner are both elegant and modern, but they require a relatively large space around them to work at full efficiency.

When the robot vacuum cleaner is running, it’s quiet and discreet, and it takes about 35 minutes to vacuum a one-bedroom apartment.

It identifies obstacles using 3D structured light and an RGB camera and easily avoids objects blocking its path.

DirTect technology can identify mess in your home and adapt to clean it effectively by increasing suction power or switching to mop only mode.

Accurately maps your home to plan its route using PreciSense LiDAR navigation.

The docking station holds a 2.5 liter dust bag and a 580 ml detergent tank.

The device is controlled via an app that allows it to be started, stopped and paused with the press of a button, and cleaning procedures can be planned in advance.

How did I find the robot?

Living in a one-bedroom apartment, my usual cleaning routine consists of a quick 15-minute vacuuming. When I released the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, I was surprised to discover that it took a full 35 minutes to vacuum the house, putting my personal effort to shame. Thanks to the vacuuming and mopping functions, my floors have never been cleaner.

Despite all these impressive features, what I love most is walking into a clean home, being able to kick off my shoes and move freely without having to dodge bread crumbs in the kitchen.

When it comes to comparing this robot to other vacuum cleaners on the market, the smart technology makes it a truly versatile floor cleaning device, while its self-cleaning mechanisms ensure you do as little as possible.

The Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra automatically empties the device of dust, and the 2.5 liter dust bag only needs to be emptied every seven weeks.

When using the mop function, the robot vacuum cleaner will automatically return to the device to empty the dirty water and refill it, keeping your floorboards and tiles shiny.

The docking station is also self-cleaning, which prevents dirt from accumulating in the vacuum cleaner.

Charging times are truly impressive, and 30% faster charging saves electricity while still allowing you to start the vacuum cleaner as soon as you’re ready to clean.

I believe that a robot vacuum cleaner is a huge time saver and would be a great choice for families, pet owners, and people who are short on time.

It’s easy to set up and control, and it makes mundane tasks achievable – mainly because you don’t have to lift a finger unless you hit the play button in the app.
