Canon transfers UVGEL printers from the Colorado M series to a higher level thanks to many innovations

Melville, New York, May 28, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Building on the global success of the Colorado M Series, Canon USA, Inc.’s modular 64-inch roll-to-roll printer with optional white UVgel ink launched last year . , a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announces the expansion of the M Series with multiple innovations available through a free firmware update, offering new and existing customers alike the potential to expand their range of applications, which could open up opportunities to enter new market segments.

The FLXfinish+ option, when used with the Colorado M Series, offers design creativity by allowing you to add matte, gloss or a mix of matte and gloss on the same print, without additional varnish. This advanced option allows you to create effective visual effects and textures, strengthening the tactile sensations of the end product. In addition, it improves the print process, limiting the need to varnish after printing, helping to save time and reduce production costs.

Flxture is a novelty available in the Colorado M series printers, five-layer printing technology that allows users to add micro-textures to large-format prints to achieve subtle surface details, reproducing the luxurious and sensual appearance of materials such as wood and leather. Creative printing applications can be designed using the easy-to-use recipe included in the PRISMAguide XL V3.4 software version1, which intelligently prepares UVGEL ink layers for printing. Whether you need a subtle background texture, elegantly embossed lettering, or to highlight part of an image on high-value packaging, labels or other products, FLXture can enhance your printed applications with additional surface textures without complex material combinations.

In another step designed to maximize productivity by reducing the need to replace rollers for longer jobs, an updated Jumbo Roll Interface Kit is now available, which enables Colorado M Series printers to handle large rolls of a variety of media types, including clear, textured, metallic and dark media.

“By offering the unique benefits of Canon’s UVgel technology, the Colorado printer was designed from the outset to deliver an incredible combination of quality, productivity, automation, range of applications and operating costs,” said Shinichi “Sam” Yoshida, executive vice president and general manager, Canon USA , Inc. “The market success of the system has demonstrated the great combination of benefits it offers and, combined with customer feedback, inspired us to develop the modular Colorado M Series. And the M Series, launched last year, has raised the bar in terms of productivity and significantly expanded the range of applications it can create customers.

“And we won’t stop there. Leveraging the benefits of UVgel technology and the modularity of the Colorado M Series, today’s advancements are focused on application diversification and automation. With these and future advances, we plan to continue to deliver innovations designed to deliver competitive benefits to our customers, enabling them to expand their capabilities and helping them take advantage of creative new applications, products and markets.

This technology will be presented at the Canon stand in Hall 8a during drupa 2024. Canon will demonstrate the entire end-to-end process – from printing, through laminating and cutting, to the final use of the packaging.
