Will Adani Ambani dominate the e-commerce space? Relying on the launch of fast trading services, Adani is entering e-commerce and UPI

According to reports, Reliance Industries is going to launch a fast trading service and Adani group is planning to enter E-Commerce & digital business.

Reliance Industries is looking to launch a fast trading service through JioMart and compete with Blinkit, BigBasket, Instamart and Zepto. According to a TOI report, JioMart plans to deliver groceries in 30 minutes in 1,000 cities.

As per the report, JioMart will first deliver groceries to at least 7-8 cities and will eventually expand the service to cover over 1,000 cities.

Adani is entering e-commerce in the UPI space

According to a report by the Financial Times, the Adani group plans to enter the digital industry to compete with Google and Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries. The group already has a strong fit in the infrastructure and logistics network of ports, airports and energy.

According to reports, taking advantage of other significant business positions in the country, the Gautam Adani-led Adani group is planning to enter e-commerce and digital payments business.

The report shows that the Adani Group intends to apply for a license to operate on India’s public digital payments network Unified Payments Interface (UPI), and is also finalizing work on a previously announced co-branded credit card.

Adani in the e-commerce business

The Gautam Adani-led company also plans to venture into the online shopping industry through the government-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). In 2022, the company launched its consumer app Adani One. Once this work is finalized, the services will be available on the app.

According to the report, the company will target its existing users across industries such as gas and electricity, as well as travelers at its airports. Users will also receive loyalty points for bill payments or duty-free purchases and use them for online purchases.
