Sweden tries to answer students’ questions about NATO and war after the end of neutrality | Movies

In March, Sweden became the 32nd member of the Western military alliance. But the abrupt end of the Scandinavian country’s 200-year neutrality following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and officials’ constant warnings about a Russian threat to Sweden itself continue to worry many people. And teenagers are no exception. The national children’s helpline reported an increase in questions about war concerns after two top officials said earlier this year that there was a risk of war in Sweden and that Swedes needed to prepare for it. Teachers and the national civic education agency developed a program to educate students about NATO’s history and geopolitics. (AP video by Chisato Tanaka and David Keyton)
