The UAE Space Agency and EDCC are working together to revitalize the aerospace and defense sectors

The aim of this MoU is to leverage the strengths of both organizations to drive economic growth and diversification in the UAE by exploring potential synergies in the aerospace and defense industries.

The UAE Space Agency and the Emirates Defense Companies Council (EDCC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly identify and develop business opportunities in the areas of aerospace and defense.

Signed during the ongoing “Make it in the Emirates” forum in Abu Dhabi, the MoU was formalized by His Excellency Salem Butti Al Qubaisi, Director General of the UAE Space Agency, and Mona Ahmed Al Jaber, Chairperson of the EDCC.

Speaking about the agreement, Salem Butti Al Qubaisi said: “This MoU reflects our commitment to developing advanced industries in the UAE by working together to enhance our ability to innovate and compete on a global scale. This enables us to support the national economy and create new employment opportunities and sustainable investment in these two leading sectors to achieve excellence and provide advanced solutions that contribute to promoting the UAE as a leading technology and innovation hub.

Al Qubaisi added: “Through this MoU, we look forward to achieving joint achievements that exceed expectations and push the boundaries of innovation to new levels. This supports the vision and aspirations of the UAE leadership to achieve a comprehensive development renaissance over the next fifty years across all sectors, including aerospace and defense.

Mona Ahmed Al Jaber, Chairperson of the EDCC, said: “This MoU represents a significant step forward in promoting cooperation between the aerospace and defense sectors in the UAE. By working with the UAE Space Agency, we can leverage the knowledge and capabilities of both industries to create new business opportunities, drive innovation and support the overall economic development of the UAE.

The main objective of this MoU is to leverage the combined strengths of both entities to drive economic growth and diversification in the UAE. By exploring potential synergies in the aerospace and defense industries, the collaboration aims to unlock new paths to growth and prosperity.

Under the terms of the MoU, the UAE Space Agency will work with EDCC to identify industrial and business opportunities in the space sector that match the capabilities and interests of EDCC members. This strategic partnership also aims to enhance economic growth and diversification by leveraging space opportunities for defense and related industries.

In addition, the two sides will join forces to promote education and skills development in defense and space technologies among local talent. This initiative aims to drive innovation and strengthen local capacity in these key sectors.

The MoU establishes a framework for the exchange of information and best practices between the defense and space sectors, with a particular focus on increasing competitiveness and efficiency in areas such as public procurement and technology development.

In addition, the cooperation will facilitate mutual support in terms of participation in defense-related events, forums and sponsorships. This collaborative effort will provide a platform for networking, sharing knowledge and showcasing the capabilities of local defense and space actors.
