Amazon drone service flying to the Phoenix area

Amazon customers in the West Valley Phoenix metropolitan area will have the option to use its drone delivery service later this year.

According to Amazon’s announcement, this is Amazon’s latest venture into drone services since launching a delivery channel in Texas and California two years ago.

In 2023, it began delivering prescription medications to customers in College Station, Texas, in partnership with Amazon Pharmacy.

“As we rolled out the service, we received great feedback from customers and the community,” Amazon said.

Amazon is working with the Federal Aviation Administration and local officials in Tolleson to obtain all necessary permits to make deliveries in Tolleson.

“Once all necessary approvals are received, we will begin contacting customers in the West Valley to receive drone deliveries when the service launches later this year,” Amazon said.

A CNBC report says the multi-channel retailer is delaying the end of California’s drone program in Lockeford.
