Tinubu policies yielding positive results – Akume, Ganduje

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, have appealed to Nigerians to continue to bear the brunt of the economic hardship caused by the policies of the Federal Government, assuring that relief will arrive at the earliest.

The duo called for the presentation of the book “365 Days of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Presidency: Resetting the Strategic Foundations of a New Nigeria.”

The book, co-authored by the chairman of the American chapter of APC, Professor Tai Balofin, and his colleague, Professor Bolu Folayan, was launched at the Shehu Yar’Adua Center in Abuja.

The SGF, which noted that Nigeria is not isolated from global economic challenges, however, maintained that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration had undertaken bold initiatives that included removing fuel subsidies and diversifying the economy by revitalizing the solid minerals sector.

He said: “The President commissioned one of the main roads in Abuja. I was there with him and the APC national chairman. Many others were also penciled in for launch. We want to let Nigerians know that we are making progress.

“If we can achieve this much in one year, imagine what we can achieve in the remaining years. I encourage everyone here, including Nigerians, to continue to support this government.”

“We are here at this conference to give Nigerians the opportunity to see what the government has been able to do in 12 of the 48 months entrusted to it to fix this country. We are on the right track and we also want to thank Nigerians for showing support to this government.”

The former Benue governor said Tinubu has made some painful but necessary decisions that will ultimately turn around the fortunes of Nigerians for good.

“President Bola Tinubu is someone I have known since 1993. He is a wonderful Nigerian who feels at home with everyone, regardless of religion, tribe and political affiliation. I know how many people I took to see him. He had some reservations at first, but accepted them. Today, some of them are his very close colleagues. He loves this country, there is no doubt about it.

“When you mentioned earlier that he became a King Maker, it is true. To further showcase his popularity during the last election, he defeated a northern candidate even in Kano. Asiwaju has a third eye that we don’t have.

“He has a knack for identifying a very popular political trend and also displays unique qualities. This is the hallmark of leadership. Otherwise we will be chasing shadows. He has friends all over the country. And that is why we honor him today.”
In a similar vein, the national chairman of the party, Ganduje, said that President Tinubu’s difficult decisions that led to the collapse of the Naira and high prices of food items are starting to yield the desired results.

He told the gathered APC faithful that President Tinubu always puts the interest of the country first in every decision he takes.

“I want to call on Nigerians to be patient and understanding in this administration’s efforts to address some of these challenges, ranging from the economy, security and others. I think this was emphasized by the authors of the book.

“The Emilokan (It’s my turn) statement was made in my presence in Ogun State. I feel honored to chair this book launch to mark Tinubu’s first year in office. Let me also take this opportunity to congratulate Mr. President and all Nigerians on the 365 days of this golden administration.

“There is no doubt that since taking office, the President has faced many challenges, many of which are global in nature. Some are inherited. However, there has been some progress.”

The book’s reviewer, Professor Olalekan Akashoro, commended the authors for providing what he described as detailed literature on President Tinubu’s political trajectory and his notable achievements in the last 365 days.

He revealed that the first three chapters of the book chronicle Tinubu’s formative years and his foray into politics.

“But chapters four and five describe the preparations for the 2023 presidential elections and Asiwaju’s political strategies.

“Chapter 12, on the other hand, was about the legal fireworks that ultimately led to the Supreme Court recognizing his electoral victory,” he noted.

Also speaking, prominent businessman, billionaire, oil tycoon and politician Arthur Eze expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of state governors.

He appealed to Nigerians not to lose hope but continue to support the president, whom he described as a supporter of change in the country.
