TransDigm acquires Raptor Scientific

TransDigm group enabled (NYSE: TDG), a Cleveland, Ohio-based designer, manufacturer and supplier of high-tech aerospace components for use in nearly all commercial and military aircraft in service, has acquired Raptor Labs Holdco, a manufacturer of complex test and measurement solutions, for approximately $655 million in cash, including certain tax benefits.

Thanks to the acquisition, the TransDigm Group will expand its offer.

Raptor Scientific, a portfolio company of L Squared Capital Partners, is a global manufacturer of complex test and measurement solutions primarily serving aerospace and defense end markets. Its products are engineered, proprietary components with significant aftermarket content and presence on aerospace and defense platforms.

The company employs approximately 170 people and has manufacturing facilities in Livermore, California; Woodland Hills, CA, Berlin, CT, Huntsville, AL and Peterborough, NH.

Led by CEO Kevin Stein, TransDigm, through its wholly owned subsidiaries, is a global designer, manufacturer and supplier of engineered aerospace components for use in virtually all commercial and military aircraft. The core product offering, substantially all of which is delivered to end users in the aerospace industry, includes mechanical/electromechanical actuators and controls, ignition systems and engine technology, specialty pumps and valves, power conditioning equipment, specialty AC/DC electric motors and generators, batteries and chargers, designed latching and locking devices, designed bars, designed elastomer connectors and sealing solutions, data buses and power controls, cockpit safety components and systems, specialized and advanced cockpit displays, designed audio, radio and antenna systems, specialized toilet components, seat belts and safety devices, designed and customized interior surfaces and related components, advanced sensor products, switches and relay panels, thermal protection and insulation, lighting and control technology, parachutes, high-performance hoists, winches and lifting devices, and cargo loading , handling and delivery systems, and specialized services and equipment for flight, wind tunnel and jet engine testing.
