Nothing reveals the limited edition smart…

Device brand Challenger Nothing has unveiled a limited-edition phone (2a) that launched in March, touting a slimmer body and a multicolored look on the back cover.

In a blog post, Nothing’s community manager Rob Godwin explained that the new device, called the Nothing (2a) Special Edition, is intended to emphasize the brand’s “design identity” through the use of three primary colors.

Godwin said the company has always used the color red in its audio products and opted for yellow for its latest AI-powered headphones. Meanwhile, it has launched the blue Nothing (2a) variant in India. The company is pitching Nothing (2a) as a budget-friendly option to Nothing 2, which was released in 2023.

The Nothing (2a) Special Edition is “the first time all three colors have been used on one piece of Nothing hardware,” Godwin said. Adam Bates, design director at Nothing, said the smartphone turns a “functional device into a striking work of art.”

The limited edition includes a dual main and ultra-wide-angle camera with a resolution of 50 megapixels and a set with a resolution of 32 megapixels. Its photography capabilities include the standard variant’s “TrueLens Engine,” which uses “computational photography algorithms” designed for sharp and detailed imaging.

Nothing worked with Google to develop a camera system that improves brightness and exposure so that images look “realistic.”

The Nothing (2a) Special Edition boasts a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with “ultra-thin, symmetrical bezels.” It features an adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hz and a peak brightness of 1,300 nits.

The device runs on a custom MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset, which provides better performance compared to the device’s predecessors.

It includes a 5,000mAh battery that lasts for two days and provides 36% faster charging speeds, and is priced at £349.
