Newcastle United launches new e-commerce website

Newcastle United has launched a new e-commerce website.

The club revealed the news in an official statement (see below) on Wednesday afternoon.

The new temporary club shop opened on Wednesday morning, opposite the Gallowgate End, next to Strawberry.

A new Newcastle United online store site is now available to complement this offering.

Official Newcastle United Announcement – 29 May 2024:

A new temporary club store has opened outside St. James’ Park as Newcastle United’s retail operations moved into its own building for the first time in over a decade.

The store at Strawberry Place was opened on Wednesday morning by general manager Darren Eales, and now the club’s new e-commerce website has also launched.

The new online retail platform – shop.newcastleunited.com – will support the sale of official merchandise to fans around the world.

For guests of St. James’ Park temporary store will be located between The Strawberry pub and St. James’ STACK presented by Sela and will be operated by Newcastle United’s new in-house retail team. The official opening took place on May 29, coinciding with the closure of the existing stadium store and ahead of the men’s and women’s international matches in England.

The current stadium store at the Gallowgate End will undergo a major refurbishment. A brand new retail outlet will open in its place later this summer as part of an upcoming partnership between Newcastle United and global sportswear giant Adidas. The temporary storage will then be deleted.

Peter Silverstone, commercial director at Newcastle United, said: “We are incredibly excited to be able to engage with fans directly through our new in-house retail business.

“We have big plans for our retail business and the first step on this journey is to launch a new digital retail platform while completely revamping the way we meet customer needs in our physical stores.

“The temporary store at Strawberry Place will enable us to close our existing retail location in St. James’ Park and making significant investments there. The result will be the launch of a world-class retail store within the stadium’s flagship store, filled with new equipment and merchandise that we anticipate will be extremely popular.

“We are building a passionate local team to lead this new retail operation, helping us meet the huge demand for Newcastle United products through best-in-class service.

“We recognize that it will take time to bring our service to the excellent level we strive for, and we thank supporters for their patience as we navigate this important transition period over the summer months.”

The temporary club store will initially sell a new range of Newcastle United-branded merchandise ahead of the launch of Adidas products – starting with the 2024/25 home kits from June 7.”
