Erthos enters into a landmark renewable energy deal with the company

Tempe, Arizona, USA, May 29, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Erthos, Inc., a large-scale renewable energy technology company and inventor of Earth Mount Solar, today announced that it has entered into a landmark agreement with the Navajo Tribal Authority (NTUA ), a Navajo Nation enterprise establishing the framework for a major U.S. renewable energy and manufacturing infrastructure project in the Nenahnezad area on Navajo tribal lands.

“This new partnership will bring benefits in the form of new jobs and stimulate the economy of the northern Navajo region,” said Arash Moalemi, deputy CEO of Navajo Generation, Inc. “We are grateful that the Nenahnezad community understands these benefits and supports this new venture.”

Navajo Poly, Inc., a Delaware corporation incorporated in August 2023, will develop these projects and operate as a joint venture between Erthos and NTUA. The goal of the project is to make the Navajo Nation a major U.S. producer of polysilicon for U.S.-made photovoltaic modules.

“This project will create over 1,250 local construction jobs and support 550 full-time positions upon completion,” Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren said at the partnership signing ceremony. “We are using our sovereignty and cutting-edge thinking to transition away from fossil fuels and benefit our communities.”

While Erthos is best known for its low-cost, ground-mount photovoltaic technology, the news marks the first public announcement of its breakthrough electrolyzer technology, which can produce emission-free oxyhydrogen (“Hydrox™ fuel”) at the cost and efficiency of a competitive green alternative to coal and natural gas as a raw material for electricity generation and heat-using production processes. The fuel will be produced using solar energy from Erthos’ ground-mounted photovoltaic plants and burned for a range of industrial applications, including power generation and polysilicon production. Burning solar energy to produce hydrogen is a comprehensive, zero-emissions process that will help the United States lead international efforts to combat environmental pollution and global climate change.

“The combination of the region’s very high solar radiation, Erthos’ lowest-cost technology, and U.S. subsidies aimed at decarbonization have created an unprecedented opportunity to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, accelerate U.S. solar energy production, and expand economic development on the Navajo Nation,” he added. says Jim Tyler, CEO of Erthos.

Navajo Poly plans to deploy 50 GW of ground-mounted solar PV by 2033, marking one of the most ambitious renewable energy deployment goals in the US.
