Port demands fair fishing regulations | News

The Crescent City Harbor District (CCHD) Board of Commissioners voted to send a letter to the Pacific Fishery Management Council, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and other relevant agencies to address discrepancies in fishing regulations, on its regularly scheduled meeting last Tuesday. The vote to send the letter passed by a vote of 4 to 1.

The CCHD expressed its primary concern about persistent and inexplicable disparities in fishing regulations and enforcement that are evident in comparisons (Crescent City Harbor) with neighboring regions. The letter primarily states that these discrepancies are evident in the case of Brookings, Oregon, located 16 miles north of Crescent City Harbor.
