From June 1, the Indian government will introduce a number of new regulations regarding driving license, use of LPG cylinders, public holidays and Aadhaar update.

New driving license rules

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways recently announced new rules for obtaining a driving license in India.

From June 1, 2024, individuals will be able to take driving tests at private driver training centers instead of government RTOs.

These centers will be authorized to conduct tests and issue certificates confirming license eligibility.

The new rules also aim to cut pollution by phasing out about 900,000 old government vehicles and enforcing stricter rules on car emissions.

The penalty for speeding is between INR 1,000 and 2,000. However, if a minor is caught driving a vehicle, he or she will face a hefty fine of INR 25,000. Additionally, the vehicle owner’s registration card will be invalidated, and the minor will not be able to apply for a driving license until he or she turns 25.

Aadhaar card update

Online Aadhaar card update options will be available till June 14. However, if users choose to do it offline, an additional fee of INR 50 will be charged for the update.

Price of LPG cylinder

LPG cylinder prices are adjusted on the first day of each month, and on June 1, oil companies set new prices for gas cylinders.

In May, these companies reduced the prices of commercial cylinders and it is expected that they may reduce the prices of cylinders again in June.

Additionally, as every day, changes in gasoline and diesel prices are expected on June 1.

Public holidays in June

As per the list of public holidays issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will be closed for 10 days in June. These include Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays.

Additionally, other festivals in June include Raja Sankranti and Eid-ul-Adha.
