The aviation and space sector will develop thanks to government support

MEXICO CITY – Mexico’s aerospace industry has the potential for double-digit growth provided it has the support of the government, the Private Initiative (IP) and society in general as they provide specialized labor for the sector, said Erick Palacios Garza, managing director of Aerocluster Monterrey .

“I think there are several possibilities. “If you think about it, the industry is run on a triple helix model where we have the government – both state and federal – some universities and intellectual property that takes into account the segmented industry,” the executive said.

He added that the cluster he leads, especially in the commercial aviation sector, will grow at least 15% annually in the coming years.

The director emphasized that this is due to the development of the Mariano Escobedo airport and some airlines that closely cooperate with it, such as Viva Aerobus.

“We also see a lot of growth in the aviation sector in the United States, it is at a standstill due to lack of maintenance, there is a huge shortage of technicians and they are gradually turning to us,” he commented.

According to Palacios Garza, the Mexican aerospace industry is using 90-95% of its production capacity in terms of parts production, adding that all companies are investing in new machines and “more and more” orders are coming in.
