Hitachi Vantara is accelerating again in the hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence sectors

Hitachi Vantara, a subsidiary of Hitachi, has undergone a strategic reorganization to increase its agility in responding to market opportunities, particularly in the hybrid cloud and generative artificial intelligence sectors. The restructuring includes the integration of Hitachi Vantara with Hitachi’s IT Platform Product Management business.

This consolidation is expected to improve business development, research and development (R&D), and production of data infrastructure solutions. The adaptation comes at a critical time when demand for data processing is rapidly increasing due to the development of generative artificial intelligence technologies. Research shows that almost 88% of IT leaders have difficulty managing AI projects and the resulting data inflow, and 90% face challenges integrating AI with other systems.

Akinobu Shimada, previously president of Hitachi’s IT Platform Product Management Division, has been named president of Hitachi Vantara. Shimada’s new role is seen as strengthening the strong links between Hitachi Vantara and Hitachi.

The restructured Hitachi Vantara will leverage extensive experience in infrastructure and data storage across production and hybrid cloud platforms. This new organizational structure is expected to innovate and adapt to market needs in real time, building on the company’s long-standing expertise in data management in mission-critical environments.

Sheila Rohra, CEO of Hitachi Vantara, noted: “The rise of generative AI and the explosion in data processing power are accelerating the pace of change, and many organizations are struggling to keep pace. The next phase of business transformation is designed to help us accelerate our execution and scale our business to identify and capitalize on market opportunities in real time.”

Rohra added: “This expansion of development, manufacturing, sales and delivery capabilities will strengthen our ability to provide our customers with the AI-driven performance, reliability and data resiliency they need in hybrid cloud environments to achieve real-world impact and growth.”

Under the new organizational structure, the synergy between Hitachi Vantara and Hitachi aims to bring research and development and engineering closer to key markets around the world. Shimada noted, “Our strong partnerships across organizations have helped create the right synergies to formalize a Hitachi Vantara structure that brings R&D and engineering closer to our key markets around the world.”

“Given the impressive industry expertise and technical expertise embedded in our business, I am confident we will lead with a unified digital infrastructure and an AI strategy and execution plan that will enable us to deliver meaningful results for our clients and position our company for continued growth,” he said Shimada.

Hitachi Vantara is also developing hybrid cloud storage, which aims to seamlessly combine local and cloud computing. This approach aims to provide security, high performance, reliability and cost benefits in large-scale processing of critical data for complex business requirements. The company recently announced a collaboration with NVIDIA to create a next-generation AI solution called Hitachi iQ, which combines industry-specific capabilities across its AI stack to deliver results that are more granular and relevant to an organization’s business needs.
