Telangana retailers are leading the way in e-commerce growth, PayNearby reports

Hyderabad: The report titled ‘Atma-nirbhar Bharat Digital Empowerment’ published by PayNearby highlights the growing acceptance of assisted financial and digital services across semi-urban and rural retail outlets, including Kirana stores, medical stores and mobile charging points.

The report shows that local retailers in Telangana are driving significant change in e-commerce, registering an astonishing 1,100% increase in assisted e-commerce transactions.

Telangana leads in e-commerce transactions

Data comparing transactions at over 12 lakh retail touchpoints across the country since FY 2023-24 shows that Telangana is one of the two states with the highest growth in e-commerce transactions. This significant growth highlights the transformative impact of digital empowerment on local economies in Telangana.

The rise of digital payments

The report also indicated a significant increase in the number of transactions on the Aadhaar-enabled payment system (AEPS), with Meghalaya, Nagaland, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and Andaman and Nicobar showing the most noticeable growth. Moreover, there is a clear shift towards digital payments, with the number of transactions using UPI QR codes at retail outlets increasing by 84%.

The report highlights the transformative impact of digital empowerment on local economies, especially in Telangana. As governments continue to adopt and integrate digital financial services, there will likely be sustained economic growth and improved access to essential goods and services.
