Drones of the Ukrainian Border Guard destroy Russian howitzers and dugouts in the Bakhmut sector

The State Border Service reported on Telegram about the destruction of two Russian howitzers, dugouts and the elimination of Russian personnel in the Bakhmut section using drones.

“Using FPV drones, Pomsta brigade fighters ‘dismantled’ two enemy howitzers D-30 and D-20 in the Bakhmut sector,” the report reads.

Border guards also destroyed Russian dugouts and personnel using drops from Mavic drones and strike drones.

The footage began with Ukrainian border guards equipping improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and kamikaze drones. First-person view (FPV) drone cameras captured Russian positions struck. As a result of the attack, border guard officers hit Russian D-30 and D-20 long-range howitzers.

Kyiv Post was unable to independently verify the time and place of the video’s release. However, after reviewing the recorded footage, there is a high probability that it is consistent with the Border Service reports regarding the positions of Russian howitzers, although their exact models are difficult to determine due to the low resolution of the recording.

The video also shows the operation of multi-role drones dropping explosives and hand grenades on Russian positions. After the explosions, motionless bodies of Russian soldiers were visible, which indicated successful hits.

US accuses China’s leadership over Ukraine and issues new sanctions warning

The Biden administration has stepped up warnings about China’s support for Russia and issued an executive order in December threatening sanctions against institutions that help Russia circumvent Western sanctions.

In a comment for the Kyiv Post, a Ukrainian military officer said: “The video shows skillfully constructed enemy fortifications that minimize the risk of damage to personnel as a result of a direct hit.”

“Our defenders must knock out the enemy literally meter by meter from our soil,” he added.

On May 22, Russia announced that its forces had retaken Klischeevka, a village in eastern Ukraine that Kiev had recaptured during the 2023 counteroffensive. Kliszczejewka, located south of the most important front town of Bakhmut, had about 500 inhabitants before the war.

The Ukrainian army is currently under great pressure, struggling with a new Russian offensive in the north-eastern Kharkiv Oblast and serious ammunition shortages along the entire front line.

Russian troops initially captured Kliszczejivka in January 2023, but Ukraine retook it in September in a largely unsuccessful counteroffensive.

Ukrainian officials do not confirm this information. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that on May 29, Russian troops “unsuccessfully carried out assault operations in the area of Ivanovsk and Klyshchevka.”
