Investment firm Impact Advantage Capital has announced the appointment of an energy executive Steven Lichtin as managing director and CEO of Advantage Capital Renewables. Lichtin brings nearly 15 years of experience developing solar and energy storage projects totaling more than 10 GW in various U.S. markets. Prior to joining Advantage Capital, he was Vice President of Development at CypressCreek Renewables, an independent renewable power producer (IPP).

Pineapple Energy Inc., a provider of sustainable solar energy and backup energy for homes and small businesses, announced today that Chief Executive Officer Kyle Udseth has decided to step down from his position, effective immediately. Member of the Pineapple Management Board and founder of SUNation Energy Scott Maskin will take over as interim CEO. SUNation Energy, a regional solar energy company based on Long Island, New York, was acquired by Pineapple Energy in November 2022. Mr. Maskin, a 23-year solar industry veteran, founded SUNation in 2003.

Job description

As Director of Community Solar Development, you will work on community-based solar projects in New York State up to 5 MW with an increasing trajectory toward the northeast. You will lead a process that includes land acquisition, permitting, utility connection, regulatory compliance, environmental studies and all other tasks necessary for the successful development of solar projects. You will have two direct reports and also supervise contractors and consulting agencies.

Duties

  • Structuring, negotiating and managing land and local tax contracts
  • Manage the local government permitting process and environmental investigations
  • Manage the media merging process
  • Manage consultants, external stakeholders and other third parties to ensure project success
  • Collaborate and coordinate with project design experts
  • Manage budgets, milestones, schedules and deliverables
  • Manage applications for various solar incentive programs
  • Gather market intelligence and build strong relationships with relevant government, regulatory and utility officials to maximize approval process, revenue and incentive mechanisms
  • Manage contracts and coordinate consultants for needed professional services, including external environmental, engineering and legal services
  • Coordinate development efforts with engineering, finance and accounting teams
  • Provide local representation in all aspects of the project and its development

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of relevant solar development experience, at least some of which in the New York solar community
  • Over 2 years of leading solar permitting for project development
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, engineering or other related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • The ability to motivate yourself and entrepreneurship
  • Strong organizational skills and discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to manage interdisciplinary and multi-departmental tasks
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • The candidate must be communicative, motivated, independent, creative and organized.
