China reveals decision to change regulations on state science and technology awards – Xinhua

BEIJING, May 30 (Xinhua) — China’s Premier Li Qiang signed a decree of the State Council revealing the decision to revise the regulations on state science and technology awards.

This decision, effective from the date of announcement, puts the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) under centralized and unified leadership of science and technology work, and further enhances both the authority and honor associated with state science and technology awards.

The decision stipulates that major issues regarding awards should be reported to the CCP Central Committee in accordance with applicable regulations.

According to the decision, the issues include: prize winners and prize levels should be submitted to the CPC Central Committee and the State Council for approval.

According to the decision, state science and technology awards should be oriented to the national strategy and closely integrated with major national strategic needs and medium- and long-term science and technology development plans.
