Chinese arrested for pointing weapons supplying high-tech military-grade gadgets

A Chinese national arrested for pointing a gun in Makati City also brought high-tech, military-grade gadgets, leading police to raise questions about their use.

According to Mark Salazar’s report on 24 Oras, items confiscated by police at the site of his arrest included various gadgets, a set of equipment with circuit boards, a portable power plant, a military drone, a high-powered firearm and a pack of £1,000 notes.

“According to him, it is nag iisa siya dit. But why is it na meron siyang mga ganung gadgets even though he lives alone,” said Police Lt. Col. Imelda Reyes, spokeswoman for the Philippine National Police’s National Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

(According to him, he lives alone. But why did he need these gadgets if that was the case?)

“Wala tayong ganung ibang gamit na meron siya. Therefore, we need to contact experts to confirm why it is on Mayroon siyang ganitong gamit and what type of surgery it is intended for,” she added.

(We don’t have gadgets like he does. That’s why we need to ask experts to confirm why he would have these kinds of gadgets and what kind of surgery does he use them for?)

The suspect is currently detained at the CIDG-NCR detention center. However, the police have difficulty questioning him because he does not speak English.

The suspect said he had been in the Philippines for six years. When asked what he did for a living in the countryside, he replied: “POGO”.

The PNP-CIDG said the Armed Forces of the Philippines is already assisting in the investigation. Authorities also cooperated with the Chinese embassy in Manila.
