Nissan Canada is accelerating the development of digital commerce for vehicle buyers

Nissan Canada, a subsidiary of vehicle manufacturer Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., strives to provide consumers and dealers with a better e-commerce experience.

This is the first step towards a comprehensive experience that allows customers to make purchases anywhere and anytime.

Nissan Canada serves 209 independent Nissan dealers, including 143 EV-certified dealers and 39 Infiniti dealers across Canada. In 2023, it sold 92,000 vehicles.

Nissan Canada is now rolling out an enhanced e-commerce platform that is expected to generate even more vehicle sales and provide consumers with even more options for purchasing and financing a vehicle online.

The new e-commerce platform allows customers to reserve a vehicle of their choice after paying a 100% refundable deposit of $500 or $1,000.

Other features allow consumers to:

  • Build and price new vehicles online.
  • Filter your search results by categories such as budget, seat capacity, and other specialized metrics.
  • Book a test drive of the vehicle at home or at the dealership.
  • Search for available resources.
  • Compare prices with similar vehicles from other competing manufacturers.

“We’ve seen increased interest and bookings in vehicles targeted at this demographic, particularly the Sentra and Kicks, and it’s important to note that this is the first step towards a comprehensive experience that allows customers to shop anywhere, anytime,” says a Nissan Canada spokesperson.

Nissan is spending $200 million globally to modernize its digital commerce infrastructure, according to a recent article in Automotive News.

Nissan USA sold 900,000 vehicles last year, including 201,747 in the fourth quarter of 2023.

However, it is unclear if or when Nissan USA will update its e-commerce platform.

“E-commerce is part of Nissan’s global customer service strategy, but countries have the autonomy to create their own solutions that adapt to market needs,” the spokesman says.

Nissan Canada is now modernizing e-commerce as customers want to have more options for purchasing vehicles online, the spokesperson adds.

“According to Google research, 50% of Gen Z and Millennials are willing to buy vehicles online, and e-commerce gives our customers 24/7 access to a Nissan showroom,” he says. “E-commerce will also be a powerful tool to make electric vehicles (EVs) and their accessories available to our customers as we transition to a more electrified offering.”
