Vietnam and Singapore are promoting cross-border e-commerce

SINGAPOREOn May 30, a conference on promoting cross-border e-commerce and payments between Vietnam and Singapore was held at Shopee Singapore.

The event, organized by the Asia-Africa Market Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Vietnam Agency for E-Commerce and Digital Economy in cooperation with the Vietnamese Trade Office and the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore, was held in the context of the two countries’ intensified efforts to develop their digital economies.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Mai Phuoc Dung highlighted the importance of the event, stating that it met the requirements of Vietnamese e-commerce enterprises while helping to implement economic diplomacy activities that lay the foundation for improving the Vietnam-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the coming time.

Meanwhile, Director of the Asia-Africa Market Department, Do Quoc Hung, said that e-commerce is an important element of bilateral cooperation, describing the dynamic development of the e-commerce market of both sides as an opportunity for them to learn and strengthen cooperation and investment in the area.

Singapore Lemon Manufacturing Federation president Tan said Vietnam has become the most popular destination for Singaporean businesses given the country’s young and large workforce.

He suggested that both countries should strengthen trade promotion to ensure investment effectiveness.

Doven Yap, acquisitions and partnerships manager at TikTok Shop Singapore, said Vietnam offers great agricultural products that will be warmly welcomed in the Singapore market if the production process and information are provided. -VNS
