Enphase Energy is expanding deployments of NEM 3.0 product solutions to installers in California

Enphase Energy, Inc., a global energy technology company and the world’s leading supplier of microinverter-based solar and battery systems, announced the expansion of deployments of its NEM 3.0 product solution with the Enphase® Energy System™, powered by IQ8™, IQ ® and microinverters advanced software with installers throughout California. The Enphase NEM 3.0 solution is focused on helping homeowners maximize their return on investment (ROI) under California’s new net billing tariff and enabling installers to deliver cost-effective and efficient solar and battery installations tailored to homeowners’ needs.

Under NEM 3.0, energy purchase and sale rates vary depending on the time of day and month. The new regulations encourage homeowners to use solar and battery systems to avoid purchasing energy during periods of high utility rates, while compensating homeowners by selling energy during periods of high export rates. The advanced software built into the Enphase energy system can be configured to automatically enable homeowners to self-consume and sell energy at the right time to create value, while also providing backup power in the event of grid failure.

Enphase also offers a new battery system configuration that enables self-consumption and saving modes of operation without the possibility of backup. This new configuration minimizes overall system components, reducing upfront costs and making project installation quicker and easier.

“The Enphase NEM 3.0 product solution, which uses a battery system with fewer components to achieve optimal solar savings, has been instrumental in helping California homeowners,” said Brad Montgomery, vice president of strategy and procurement at Empower Solar . “We are currently installing hundreds of such systems per month and have seen firsthand the revolutionary impact of this technology on optimizing energy consumption at home.”

“As California transitions to NEM 3.0, homeowners are increasingly looking for solutions that provide both financial savings and energy independence,” said Matthew Margolin, CEO of Sunline Solar. “The Enphase product suite not only seamlessly adapts to regulatory changes, but also provides customers with tangible benefits, making it an excellent choice for those looking to realize the full potential of solar and battery power.”

Additionally, Solargraf®, Enphase’s design, proposition and software platform, can help installers design systems that optimize solar and battery capabilities to achieve savings under new California solar regulations. The updated Solargraf platform offers a simplified experience in designing and generating system proposals, configuring battery sizing through the use of modularity, creating custom consumption profiles and improving system operations for self-consumption and energy export to help ensure electricity bill offsetting and, where appropriate , refund of costs from the website. Solargraf incorporates rates provided by CPUC to help installers generate more accurate designs and system proposals for customers.

“Enphase’s NEM 3.0 product solution is a game changer for homeowners looking to save money in California’s dynamic new energy landscape,” said Joel McClure, CIO at Southwest Sun Solar. “Enphase enables homeowners to optimize their energy use, significantly reducing their electricity bills while increasing energy independence. This benefits all customers looking for long-term value from their solar investments.”

“The Enphase Energy system was designed to meet the unique needs of California homeowners,” said Mehran Sedigh, senior vice president of sales at Enphase Energy. “Our IQ batteries intelligently deliver power at critical moments, whether they’re backing up in the event of a grid outage or helping homeowners maximize system performance. By equipping installers with cutting-edge tools and resources, Enphase continues to lead the adoption of solar energy, enabling customers to fully realize the benefits of renewable energy.

Enphase software uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to manage the complexity of electricity rate structures to significantly improve value for homeowners. Enphase expects to roll out an update to its energy management software for solar and battery systems in 2024 to support the rapid transition to electrification with electric vehicles, heat pumps and more.
