Finland has granted the EU funds of USD 30 million for the development of solar energy

The EU’s Renewable Energy Financing Facility (RENEWFM) has awarded €27.5 million ($30.1 million) to seven solar projects in Finland.

According to a press release from the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), eight projects initially received funding for the construction of photovoltaic infrastructure in Finland. Seven of the eight projects went on to sign funding agreements with CINEA. The total capacity of these seven projects is 212.99 megawatts (MWp).

The seven projects are Loukkaanaro Solar Park, Niittyneva Solar Park, Ohrasuo Solar Park, Koirivaara Solar Park, Honkisaarenneva PV Solar Park, Kuortane Solar and Poytya Solar.

Loukkaanaro Solar Park (20 MWp) is located in Utajärvi. When completed in 2025, this project will be the largest photovoltaic farm in northern Finland. RENEWFM awarded him EUR 2.3 million ($2.5 million).

Niittyneva Solar Park (8 MWp) is expected to start production in February 2025 with a capacity of 7,240 MW hours per year. The project received funding of €837,000 ($866,700).

The Ohrasuo solar park (7.8 MWp) is located in eastern Finland and is scheduled to be operational in April 2025 with an annual production of 7.2 gigawatt hours (GWh). The project obtained EUR 990,000 ($1.07 million) from CINEA.

CINEA has awarded €5.2 million ($5.6 million) to the Koirivaara (30 MWp) solar park located in North Karelia. The agency said the project is expected to generate 27.2 GWh per year, with a completion date of December 2025.

Honkisaarenneva PV Solar Park (33 MWp) received €4.1 million ($4.4 million), while the 67.6 GWh Kuortane Solar project in Leppälänkylä received €9.9 million ($10.7 million). According to CINEA, the Poytya Solar power plant (40.16 MWp) in southwestern Finland received an amount of 4 million euros ($4.3 million).
