Important news for Noida commuters! Aqua Line metro will be extended to the Noida West metropolitan area, with 11 new stations announced

The expansion plan includes the addition of eleven new metro stations along the Aqua Line corridor, covering key sectors in Greater Noida and Noida, including sectors 51, 61, 70, 122 and 123.

Notably, Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has received approval to expand the Aqua Line corridor to Greater Noida West. This strategic decision aims to improve connectivity between Noida, Greater Noida and Delhi, facilitating seamless travel for commuters in these regions. The expansion plan includes the addition of eleven new metro stations along the Aqua Line corridor, covering key sectors in Greater Noida and Noida, including sectors 51, 61, 70, 122 and 123. The expansion project covers a stretch of 17.43 km. aims to introduce important transport connections in the area.

“The importance of the project comes from the proposed connection of the existing operational Aqua Line with the DMRC Blue Line at Sector-61 station and will benefit commuters in Noida, Greater Noida West and Greater Noida areas with faster and direct connectivity towards Noida and Delhi and vice versa . The plan envisages 11 stations on the 17.43 km route at a cost of Rs 2,991.60 crore,” NMRC Managing Director Lokesh M had earlier told ANI.

Currently, the Aqua Line connects Sector 51 Noida with Depot Station in Greater Noida. The average daily number of passengers increased from 18,000 in 2019 to 45,000 in 2023.

In addition, the construction of the new metro line is expected to reduce traffic congestion on highways, shorten travel times for commuters and reduce pollution levels. One of them is a corridor between Botanical Garden metro station and Noida Sector-142 station, while the other is an extension of Depot NMCR station to Bodaka in Greater Noida.
